Account *** not enabled, not connecting

Hello,

I'm having some troubles while working with libpurple. When I try to
enable an account (account.set_enabled(True)) I get this message:
account: Account *** not enabled, not connecting (icq, msn... seems
not protocol related). (Actually I'm using a python wrapper:
python-purple http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/PythonHowTo). Can anyone
tell me why I can't enable this account?
