Unable to send message: The message is too large.

HI
I have just installed Pidgin on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.  Yahoo account. Am
chatting but if send more than about 100 letters, get error message sent
instead"Unable to send message: The message is too large."  An example
is this: " Teacher said is a requirement of industry,the paperwork that
is" - had to go as 2 separate messages - "Teacher said is a requirement"
and "of industry, the paperwork that is"

Anything I can do to fix this?
