No, debug symbols are useful for a crash report, not for a debug log.

No, simply reinstalling on top would be all that is necessary.

The Debug Window is available via the "Help" menu from the Buddy List.
 However, in your situation, you will need use the preemptive debug
logging since the UI becomes unresponsive.
