Problems

Hi, I have been using pidgin for a while now and before the im window will light up when someone was messaging me. Now I have to go and see if the person wrote back because the window does not light up anymore. I mean when I receive a message. What can I do? The whole look of the window itself is darker also and I don't know why. Thanks
