importing Google Talk contacts

I installed Pidgin 2.6.6-2 under FC 12 and set it up to look at my
existing Google Talk account but it shows nothing in the buddy list.
I installed the purple plugin pack and the listhandler appears to work
but when I try to use the "Copy .." option it brings up the GT account
(as configured in Pidgin) to copy FROM but then doesn't know where to
copy TO (should be same account? a local file?).  Any advice on how to
proceed?
