Chinese input

How do I enable Chinese in Pidgin? I have the Windows IME and fonts
installed, but when I enter in (or receive) characters they transform into
rectangles. I couldn't find any mention of it in the Preferences or in the
online FAQ.

Running 2.7.5 in Windows 7.
