In general, this is correct. There are some exceptions:
* AIM and ICQ are completely interoperable.
* Yahoo! and MSN have at least some interoperability
* In Pidgin, it's best supported (in my opinion) in our Yahoo! plugin, where
you can add MSN buddies to your Yahoo list.
* In my experience our MSN plugin only plays nice with the interoperability
when the Yahoo person has already been added to the list by another (i.e.
non-Pidgin) client.
