AIM via Pidgin 2.7.9 (libpurple 2.7.9)

When I try to connect to AIM I get the following error: "Unable to connect
to authentication server: SSL Handshake Failed" I have already ensured that
'Use clientLogin' is disabled. Is there a fix? I'm running Pidgin 2.7.9
(libpurple 2.7.9)
