Display Name (handle) Issue

Dear Pidgin Support,
I just downloaded and installed Pidgin IM on my Windows 7 Professional
machine and added my AOL (AIM) sign in locenstein at aim.com. I am able to
communicate with others added to my buddy list but they tell me my display
name (handle) is not showing up as locenstein. It's showing up as my actual
first name which is Tony. I tried to configure the display name using by
entering a local alias under user options but it still does not work. Can
you tell me how to fix this problem. Is there a plug in required or another
place to configure this??
