It's not supported by Pidgin, no.  Please see
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/PlainTextPasswords for a lengthy
explanation.  We do hope to support some sort of keyring/key chain in
the future, but the project to add support for that has stagnated
(contributions welcome).
