Can't add users to MSN

Hi,

I'm using Pidgin 2.7.3 (libpurple 2.7.3) with Ubuntu 10.10 and each time
I want to add an user to MSN I get the following error message:


"Unable to add


Unable to add the buddy example at hotmail.com because the username is
invalid.  Usernames must be valid email addresses."


What's wrong here? I'm sure the user exists.
