Using Spark (http://www.igniterealtime.org/) we can broadcast an IM to multiple buddies (selecting from a checklist, which ones to send the message to).
Message to send was on the left side, and user checklist was on the right side.

 I could not find a similar feature in Pidgin.
So this is kind of a Feature Request.
