Is it possible to add your smartphone contacts to Pidgin so you can text via the Pidgin interface?

Is it possible to add your smartphone contacts to Pidgin so you can text via
the Pidgin interface?  I know you can add mobile devices to AIM but I don't
know about in bulk.
