Use of pidgin for LAN chat

Hello,

At work I have a stand-alone network consisting of 3 computers, a server,
and a ready-NAS share drive. I'm using Windows 7 for the OS.

Here's my question - can I install and use Pidgin in order to have a LAN
chat/IM capability on my stand-alone network? If yes, are there any
instructions for how to set this up?
