Gmail chat won't sign-in

Set up pidgin yesterday --- all my accounts working fine. Anyone know why I
can't, now, connect to my google chat any longer? hasn't worked since
initial sign-in.
I've tried modifying / re-entering my information multiple times; tried
re-setting up the account; it won't connect.
