Unable to authenticate to AIM

I've been using Pidgin for weeks to connect to AIM.  Starting this afternoon, when I try to login to my AIM account, I get:
AOL does not allow your screen name to authenticate here
Any idea why I am getting this?  I've looked on the AIM support community with no luck.
