My chat to a coworker isn't beeping

Hi;

It's only my incoming chats to another coworker aren't beeping. Other
incoming chats are beeping on his client. haven't changed any settings on
my client. The only thing I can think of is yesterday my coworker's pidgin
id was missing from the operators section of the buddy list. I added his ID
back in through my chat window Conversation/New Instant message menu.
