@Kathryn,

In the software, click Buddies, View User Log.  This doesn't always work as
expected, so if you want to see them on the file system, please look here:

*Windows 7:*
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\.purple\logs\*PROTOCOL*\*ACCOUNT*\*FRIEND*

*Linux:*
~/.purple/logs/*PROTOCOL*/*ACCOUNT*/*FRIEND*

*Windows XP:*
%USERPROFILE%\.purple\logs\*PROTOCOL*\*ACCOUNT*\*FRIEND*
