QUery on pidgin - my version is 2.10.6

Hi,

I downloaded an image and set it as custom smiley.
Now when I use this in a chat room - others are not getting the image.
They are getting the shortcut what I typed in.

I am assuming, if they also have the same image saved with same shortcut, it would have come.

Is this how pidgin works? Are we actually giving a reference to the underlying file system?
I thought it could be some kind of painting on the screen from the source (sender) - like u may be sending the ch bytes similar to the text messages..

I would just like to know  what is the expected beahvior here.
