We like libpurple and would like to use it for our app, but its GPL licensing presents challenge with our firm’s policy. We’d like to find out if there is any alternative licensing you can offer for the product?
For better or worse, a change in licensing isn't an option.

There are several copyright owners who are unwilling to agree to a license change.
Even if that weren't the case, the number of copyright owners makes it impractical to attempt re-licensing.
