selective new message alert

Hello support,

I've got a feed that sends a new IM every few minutes which means that every few minutes I get a new message notification.  Since I perpetually have a new message I end up ignoring the new message alert and that makes it so I miss other people's new messages.  Is there a way to make the one buddy's messages not trigger the new message notification?
