Connecting Pidgin to Facebook Chat

I just got a brand new laptop with Windows 8.1 on it.  I downloaded the latest (2.10.8 (libpurple 2.10.8) ) and have been trying to connecting Facebook to it.  I got gmail to connect, as well as AIM, but not Facebook.  I have followed the Facebook instructions and I’ve tried to follow the Pidgin’s instructions to the very best of my knowledge but cannot get it to connect.  Help?
