Waiting for network connection

I am using Window 7. Several times an hour, Pidgin locks up. I can't send messages. However my internet connectivity is fine (I can browse the web, ftp, send mail, etc). I am using Pidgin 2.10.7 (libpurple 2.10.7)

What can I do to fix this?

I am using connectors to Yahoo IM and Olark.
