Please see the mailing list archive.  Microsoft have disabled support 
for the version of Windows Messenger that Pidgin pretends to be.  It 
should pretend to be a later version from the next release.

Also please note that all support for MSN is on borrowed time.  You need 
to move to Skype and Microsoft clients or to a service based on a more 
open protocol.
