The old Yahoo messenger is dead and buried.  Yahoo turned off the servers so there is nothing to do about it.
The new one is an abomination.  Eion did create a plug-in for it, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, and the plugin cannot overcome the deficiencies inherent in the protocol.
