Weirdness pasting email addresses

Was sending a colleague some email addresses via IM (Google Hangouts, with Eion's plugin):

'y' <x at y.com <mailto:x at y.com> >
'b' <a at b.com <mailto:a at b.com> >

 

Only there were a lot of them. He got them OK; I saw:

'y'

'b'

 

I experimented. If I send more than 33 addresses, I don't see the address part. 33 or fewer, it's fine. Yes, 33, not 32!

 

Any ideas?
