Google Chat

Hello
I have used Pidgin in the past and had no problems.  I recently installed
Pidgin on Windows 10 and using a gmail account, cannot connect.  I selected
XMPP and also Google Talk as the protocol.  I get the message Server Closed
the Connection or Cannot Connect.  I believe from looking all over your
website that Google Chat is not supported.  Or if it is, it is unstable, or
I need a plug in which I would have to compile.  I don't compile.
Can you let me know where I have gone wrong?
