#134: Gaim/pidgin 2.0.0. beta6 (and previous) in CPU-intensive loop on Solaris 9
------------------------------+---------------------------------------------
 Reporter: rsk308 | Type: defect
   Status: new | Priority: minor
Component: pidgin (gtk) | Version: 2.0
 Keywords: solaris cpu loop |
------------------------------+---------------------------------------------
 Compiled with:
 --disable-rpath --disable-tcl --disable-tk --disable-gtkspell --disable-
 deprecated --disable-gevolution --with-x --enable-gnutls --enable-cyrus-
 sasl --disable-perl

Description: gaim/pidgin will occasionally go into a tight loop in
which it cycles through read()/write()/poll() calls, pegs the CPU,
and (apparently) ceases processing incoming messages. One of
my users reported this, and he appears to use *only* Yahoo IM,
so I suppose it's possible that this is a Yahoo-specific problem,
although I can't rule out something broader. I managed to grab
a system call trace (via "truss") and am going to attach it, hoping
that it'll enable localization to the piece of code that's involved.

This problem appears to be transient: it will surface for a period
of time ranging from a few minutes to a few tens of minutes, then
it will subside, only to show up again later. Working with the user,
I've been unable to figure out what the cause for either the onset
 or cessation of it is.
