 Now that we're using a distributed VCS, it's quite possible to get
 revisions into the trunk that were not committed by a developer. This also
 happens with patches if you use the --author argument while committing. We
 should either modify the commits mailing list to accept all mail from the
 local machine, or we should have the commit hook use a constant envelope
 sender.
