 Basically, I understand that "use remote alias for ICQ" was disabled
 several years ago.

 However, many have rather large contact lists consisting of a few hundred
 AIM/ICQ/MSN/etc buddies these days and it is rather tedious to manually
 input aliases for over 100 nicknames.

 Given that many other multi-chat clients already support this feature, why
 doesn't Pidgin include this feature too?

 I suggest that this feature if included, be released as either an
 enhancement or a patch.
