 Songbird is using a version of gstreamer that has been ported to Windows.
 If gstreamer enables pidgin to implement volume control on Linux, would
 using gstreamer to play sounds on Windows allow pidgin to implement volume
 control on Windows too? If so, are there plans to implement sounds through
 gstreamer instead?

 using 2 beta 6 on Windows XP
