 As Ticket #176 described, if one has themselves as a contact in Gmail,
 then they see themselves as an online buddy in Gaim.

 #176 was closed, but removing one's self as a contact is not a good
 resolution.  I frequently email reminders to myself, so my own email is
 always going to be in my contacts, and in fact I want it there.

 Wouldn't it be very simple to add a check in Gaim/Pidgin that simply
 doesn't show a buddy if its ID is the same as the logged-in ID?
