 At least here, I'm observing this with
 libgtk 2.8.17 and glib 2.10.2.  On my to-do
 list is working through the process of compiling
 more recent versions of gtk, glib, pango, glade, etc.
 in order to update the environment -- so once I
 do that, and once I figure out how to snag a snapshot
 of pidgin source from here, I'll recompile and see
 if that makes any difference.    (Compiling all the
 GNOME stuff under Solaris 9 isn't quite as easy
 as under Linux or BSD, otherwise I would have already
 tried this.)
