 The one thing I see as an advantage for XML logging is that there would
 finally be a usable logging format that can actually tell where one
 message ends and another begins while still being file-based.  This could
 be useful for an external log reading application to give you a "jump to
 next message" feature for skipping long messages.  I don't really know if
 that is useful, though, so please take this with a grain of salt.
