 maybe just an option to remember settings that can be adjusted per tab.
 Right now these settings include logging, and sounds. another example is
 we have an announcement jabber server at work which tells us what's up or
 down. first thing I do every morning is mute it, and disable logging. I
 don't think this kind of "remember settings" thing is UI clutter. My
 personal opinion is it should just be that way as default. like it is for
 settings that aren't per tab. but seeing as how not all people agree....
 it should probably be optional.
