Old description:

New description:

 This covers at least a couple of cases:
  1. You say, "Goodbye" to someone and close the window. They reply
 "Goodbye", opening a new window and a new log. This is suboptimal.
 Timeouts could fix this.
  2. You leave a window open forever and end up with messages across
 multiple days appearing in one log (with the first date) even though the
 conversations were separated  by several hours.

 To best cover these cases, there should be two timeouts. The first is an
 inactivity timeout that would be on the order of an hour or more. The
 second is a conversation reopen timeout that would be on the order of a
 few minutes.
