Comment:

 I think we can fix any real problems with a timeout, as described in
 ticket #378. I'm not interested in doing one-file-per-day because either
 1) we should fix the Pidgin log viewer to work better (to accomplish
 whatever people are doing now with an external app), or 2) people should
 learn to use the Unix text manipulation tools.
