 With IRC chat rooms, I'm seeing a weird "half-crash" (Sean's words; he's
 seen it a couple of times as well). If I don't do anything to the window
 to invalidate it, I'll see updates, but none of the widgets refresh. Sean
 said it's like it's not getting any X events. There's not really a
 backtrace per se, as it's always in poll() like you'd expect.
