New description:

 With IRC chat rooms, I'm seeing a weird "half-freeze" (Sean's words; he's
 seen it a couple of times as well). If I don't do anything to the window
 to invalidate it, I'll see updates, but none of the widgets refresh. Sean
 said it's like it's not getting any X events. There's not really a
 backtrace per se, as it's always in poll() like you'd expect.

 I think it might be made worse by signing on to multiple accounts at once.
 It generally happens a few seconds after the channels have been auto-
 joined, but I've seen it a couple times even after I'd been signed in for
 a long time. (At least once I was switching tabs, but I don't remember one
 way or another for the other times.)
