Comment (by hdh):

I think I'm getting this crash as well. But the first time it happened,
pidgin quitted with "Segmentation fault". The sound notification worked
for me before and after that crash. I can only remember a buddy sent me a
message when the crash happened, the message was recorded in log but it
never made a sound, and subsequent messages arrived as offlines, with
 sound notification.

Immediately after, I ran pidgin from gdb, after osme time it crashed again
with SIGSEGV. I don't have debug symbols of GTK+ libs, so the bt was full
of ??'s. It did involve libgstreamer, so I post this comment here.

I got impatient and went to Preference --> Sounds and pushed the Test
button quite a few times. Pidgin crashed with this in terminal debug
 output:

 memory clobbered before allocated block

 Aborted

I compiled pidgin with --enable-debug, but run it with no switch. I don't
know how to get debug symbols for Pardus GNU/Linux. And I'm running KDE.
