Comment:

Thanks for the tip on turning off the infopane in conversation windows.
That's very much appreciated. I had already switched off buddy details in
the buddy list window. I'm keen to keep the footprint as small a possible
on my install - it's one of my main reasons for avoiding the proprietary
IM clients like Yahoo (having multiple IM connections through one client
is another:-). This is down to using an 'ultra portable' (read small)
laptop screen at home, and a work policy that tolerates IM but discourages
it (the more discrete the windows the better, particularly where the boss
 is concerned).

The buddy list window does seem to have a larger footprint than the
earlier Gaim releases. It looks like this is primarily down to the size of
the 'small' icons. From my perspective it would be great to have the
option of using a smaller custom icon set, and I guess others would like
the option to add custom icons. Would it be possible to add that to your
list of feature requests for implementation at some point further down the
 track? Thanks

 > You can turn off the infopane in the preferences, Conversations->Show
Buddy Details. From the buddy list window Buddies->Show Buddy Details will
put the buddy list into 'small' mode.
