 I have noticed this with one of my Google Talk contacts in particular.  He
 runs two sessions constantly, and often has the wrong status in my list.
 Here's a couple of screenshots that demonstrate the issue visually:

 Restarting '''my''' client cleared up the issue.  I imagine it has
 something to do with the timing of the messages.  I'll continue to watch
 my system log and see if I can catch him at it and see what messages show
 up in which order.
