Well, that doesn't work either. On every other client I've configured with
our internal jabber server, I've set the jabber server to "jabber.aert.cc"
and my username, etc. When I configure Pidgin, the domain should be "
jabber.aert.cc" and the Resource should be blank (or I dont know what goes
there- it keeps appending /home to it if I leave it blank).
Here is my current setup on a Vista PC:
Protocol: XMPP
ScreenName: crom (userid)
Domain: jabber.aert.cc
Resource: <blank>
Password: *****
Local alias: <blank>
Advanced Tab
Force Old Port (5223) checked
Proxy Type - No Proxy
With these settings, Pidgin is trying to connect to
crom at jabber.aert.cc/home and it fails. I can't figure out how to make the
"resource" field stay blank.
However, if I used Miranda chat (on an XP box), the settings that work and
connect on there are:
username: crom
password: *****
login server: jabber.aert.cc
Resource: Miranda <not required>
Port: 5223
Use SSL - checked
