 I also have this problem running on Pidgin 2.1.0 on Windows XP using an
 AIM account.  An additional peculiarity is that changing to a long away
 message will also resets my "logged in" time as seen in the hover status.
 However, changing back to a short away message reverts the "logged in"
 time to the correct time.
