 I'm seeing something similar. Apostrophes are allowed, but appear to lower
 the critical threshhold at which away messages stop working. If an away
 message isn't allowed, it will not replace the previous away (which can be
 "none"). Non-allowed away messages also prevent my profile from being
 uploaded (as far as I can tell), but as soon as an OK away is set, the
 profile goes up. Let me know if I can do anything to help debug this.
