#2688: Can't load accounts if status contains non-simple characters
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
 Reporter:  oistrakh      |       Type:  defect
   Status:  new           |   Priority:  minor
Component: pidgin (gtk) | Version: 2.1.0
 Keywords:                |    Pending:  0
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
 If the status for an account contains non-simple characters (I don't know
 the technical term, non-ASCII, non UTF-8, whatever character set), then
 pidgin is unable to read the accounts.xml file and starts up with a
 message saying that no accounts exist. For example, if status is:

          <status type='available' name='Available' active='true'>
             <attributes>
                <attribute id='message' value='Listening to
 'Lemminkäinen's Return - Beecham-LPO' by Sibelius
 (1865-1957)'/>
             </attributes>
          </status>

 The 'a' with an umlaut over it in 'Lemminkainen' causes the problem, I
 believe.
