 Strangely enough, after also successfully connecting with Trillian, Pidgin
 did finally connect.  I had attempted to get Pidgin to connect probably a
 half-dozen times with no success, while it was successfully connected to
 GTalk and AIM.  I didn't change anything else on my side, so I have no
 explanation for the change.
