Sometimes people type in an ironic way for comedic effect. Occasionally
I'll try to do this, and Pidgin will correct my ''intentional''
misspelling. It shouldn't.
It's absolutely wonderful when I type "wouldnt" and it corrects it to
"wouldn't". This is a great feature. I love it. In fact, I've used this
to stop typing apostrophes altogether.
When I mistype and a trailing letter ''r'' is converted into "are", I
groan a little. The message would have been understood if not fo r the
autocorrect, but with it, the othe are person is confused, and I have to
go back and fix it. I think to myself: "Eh. I guess someone probably
uses that as a shortcut in the same way that I use the apostrophes. I can
always remove it from my own autocorrect list."
"Dunno" or "plz" could prolly also b considered shortcuts, cuz theyre
easier 2 type. And I guess some people are really that bad at spelling,
so those are fine.
But when I type "laterz" and it's autocorrected to "later", that's just
dumb. There is no way in a thousand blue moons that someone is going to
append a Z by accident (not even on a Dvorak; I just looked). It's not
actually a mistake, so the computer shouldn't try to correct it. I don't
know where the word list came from, but someone should go through and
remove the really bad ones like this.
'''U GUYS RILLY NED 2 CHANGA THIS OK?!!?!! LOL'''
