 I am using Pidgin 2.1.1 on Ubuntu Feisty.

 When I go to Preferences>Conversations and uncheck "Show derailed
 information", all my IM windows display the tab bar, even though they are
 displaying only one conversation. (Otherwise, the tab bar does not display
 for windows with only one conversation.)
