#2883: Not a bug, yet still a HUGE pain: no binary installed

Installing Pidgin under any Portage-based Linux distribution can be quite
the pain in the rectal region depending on the circumstances. I've spent
three days hunting for an answer as to why no matter how many times I
emerged Pidgin, there was never any Pidgin binary installed on my system.

Well, it turns out the installer graciously ignores any will to install
the graphical interface (Pidgin) if the GTK USE flag is disabled (as is
the case on many, if not most systems running KDE.) Instead, it silently
reverts to Finch, yet still throws a convincing argument that Pidgin was
installed, including an entry for Pidgin on the KMenu.

Please, for the sake of everyone else with this trouble, (and I noticed
many on the Sabayon Linux forums, where I finally found my answer,) have
the installer for the next release throw some sort of warning in the event
that only Finch is about to be installed.

(Oh, and the link to explain WikiFormatting on the ticket submission page
should really open a new page instead of stealing the current one.)
